The Miner laboratory studies the role of cytosolic nucleic acid sensors in rare diseases, antiviral immunity, autoimmunity, neurodegeneration, and DNA damage responses. In our laboratory, rare disease research is a starting point to define fundamental biological mechanisms. We also prioritize development of novel therapies for patients with rare monogenic diseases. This includes animal model studies using CRISPR/Cas9 prime editing, and our development of new technologies to study rare mutations in disease. We have discovered several new mechanisms of autoimmunity, antiviral immunity, neurodegeneration, and autoinflammation. We have 2 new R01s as well as private funding to support multiple postdocs.
