5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Innovation Management

Summary of PhD Program:

The Ex-Man project seeks to understand the exnovation process in manufacturing firms. Exnovation is the process of how old technologies, artefacts, or practices in an organization get removed to make space for the introduction of new technologies and innovations. The project will provide novel insights on how to manage and strategically conduct exnovation and to understand the underlying mechanisms, barriers, and facilitators of phasing out old innovations and its influence on firm performance and innovativeness. The project will collect and utilize qualitative case studies and quantitative survey data from the manufacturing sector in Denmark, Germany, and Slovenia.

6. Fully Funded PhD Position in Bioinformatics

Summary of PhD Program:

Dr. Sahu’s lab investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying aging, with particular emphasis on cellular senescence and the Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASP). Their research explores how SASP contributes to aging-related diseases and aims to develop therapeutic strategies to mitigate its harmful effects while preserving its beneficial functions. The lab also works on cellular rejuvenation through partial reprogramming techniques to reverse age-related decline in health, focusing on improving lifespan and organ function in aging models.

8. Fully Funded PhD Position in The Aesthetics of Bio-Machines and the Question of the Life

Summary of PhD Program:

The work to be undertaken by the PhD project is designed to understand the ways how aesthetic works negotiate imaginaries of intelligent and life-animating bio-machines (such as AI, chatbots, robots). How does art (visual art, fiction, film, digital art) represent life with these new artificial smart machines and how does it address their potential life-status? While the position is embedded in disciplines of the humanities, we explicitly encourage candidates with expertise in engineering to apply. The PhD project should also address theoretical questions about the production of aesthetics generated by AI. The PhD thesis will be supervised by Professor Kathrin Maurer and is housed at the University of Southern Denmark. The thesis can take the form of a monograph, or it can be article based.
