The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy Academic Fellowship offers an opportunity for a PharmD or PhD graduate to gain valuable academic experiences in teaching, scholarship, and service while learning from and working alongside award-winning faculty. The Fellowship is targeted toward graduates who have obtained a PharmD and completed one or two years of residency training and/or have obtained a PhD, with or without postdoctoral training, in pharmaceutical sciences or pharmacy outcomes. While being mentored for a career in academia, the Fellow will have the opportunity to develop and hone teaching skills with various types of teaching experiences.

2. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking one self-motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct research on one or more of the following aspects: biomass feedstock characterization and conversion; bioleaching or biomining of raw materials for mineral removal/recovery; microbiology and bioreactor design; statistical and kinetic modeling. Experimental work will be conducted in our well-equipped laboratories at the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, University of Kentucky. You will be expected to apply HPLC, GPC, TGA, GC-MS, NMR and other analytical equipment to characterize biomass raw materials, the intermediate streams and end products. You will also be expected to write manuscripts for publication and help on project reporting and grant proposals. This is a grant funded position.

3. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Spectroscopic Imaging Laboratory in the F. Joseph Halcomb III, M.D. Department of Biomedical Engineering and Markey Cancer Center at the University of Kentucky has an opening for a postdoctoral scholar research position. The prospective candidate will be expected to contribute to our optical imaging program at BME and Markey Cancer Center in which he/she will have opportunities to pursue preclinical and translational cancer research with a focus of cancer metabolism, and mentor graduate students. This position will also provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in a multidisciplinary research environment. The initial appointment will be for a 12-month period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and the availability of funding.

5. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Department of Toxicology & Cancer Biology is recruiting a Post-Doctoral Scholar for the lab of Dr. Ka Wing ‘Will’ Fong, Assistant Professor. Dr. Ka-wing (Will) Fong’s lab is studying transcriptional, epigenetic and metabolic regulation of prostate cancer [see our publications Fong et al., Mol Cell 2022; Fong et al., Nat Commun 2018; Fong et al., Cancer Res 2019, 2017; see the following link for complete publication list: https://toxicology.med.uky.edu/users/kfo241 The lab is currently supported by NIH funding and V-Foundation grants. The putative postdoc researcher will have the opportunities to work on prostate cancer-related projects with use of cutting-edge technologies, including CUTRUN, CUTTAG, ATAC-seq, stable-isotope resolved metabolomics, advanced proteomics and bioinformatics.

6. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

This position is for a postdoctoral scholar to support an NIH-funded community-engaged research project on drinking water disinfection byproducts in the Kentucky Water Research Institute. Disinfection byproducts, which are toxic chemicals formed during chlorination of drinking water, are among the most ubiquitous contaminants of drinking water in the United States and Globally. They are the primary source of Safe Drinking Water Act Maximum Contaminant Level Violations in the US. The successful applicant will conduct research using both traditional and community-based participatory methods on the factors governing formation of and exposure to disinfection byproducts in rural drinking water systems as part of an NIEHS-funded research to action project. The applicant will also be enriched by participating in collaborations as part of UKs NIEHS-funded Environmental Health Sciences Core Center, UK-CARES, as well as the University of Kentucky Water Research Institute.

7. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Center for Oral Health Research seeks a Scientist II to develop in vitro and in vivo experiments to determine risk factors associated with health or periodontitis and assist in the development of investigator grants. This position requires a PhD with excellent teaching and communication skills with at least 3 years of postdoctoral or laboratorial research experience in cellular and molecular biology, particularly with an emphasis in eukaryotic cell biology tissue culture experience as well as strong experience in qPCR, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry techniques. Experience in working with mice and growing and maintaining bacterial cultures will also be desirable.
