The Division of Materials Sciences and Engineering with Ames National Laboratory is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate. The postdoctoral research associate will conduct research focused on discovery and studies of magnetic topological materials. The successful candidate is expected to carry out measurements of their electronic properties using Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy. 2. Postdoctoral Positions 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:

The Division of Materials Science and Engineering with Iowa State University at the Ames National Laboratory is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work with Ames National Laboratory scientists and Iowa State University faculty on new research into quantum materials utilizing neutron and x-ray scattering techniques. Specific projects will involve (1) determining crystalline electric field levels and valence states in support of an effort to develop a comprehensive and quantitative understanding of mixed valence and how it affects magnetic anisotropy and other magnetic properties. (2) Diffraction and scattering efforts to examine, quantify, and understand magnetic interactions in quantum materials and their role in driving novel properties involving itinerant magnetism and topologically protected quantum states.

3. Ames National Laboratory Scientist II

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:

The Scientist II position conceives, designs, and conducts studies and designs and implements high performance software in the areas of theoretical and computational quantum mechanics. The position collaborates with the supervisor and other PIs within the Division of Chemical and Biochemical Sciences at Ames National Laboratory, ISU and externally; designs and implements highly scalable and flexible quantum chemistry software; invents, performs and conducts investigations; interprets the results; presents and defends research at professional and project meetings; drafts manuscripts for publication with collaborating co-authors; guides researchers on software engineering and research techniques; and writes research proposals for future funding of research projects (as PI or co-PI).

The Ames National Laboratory is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position within the Division of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE). Successful candidate will work with research groups to develop quantum materials/devices and advanced electron microscopy techniques. The incumbent includes initiate, design, and perform chemical and structural analysis of materials from the micro- to atomic-scale for qubit. perform advanced transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies using aberration corrected (scanning) transmission electron microscopy and spectroscopy.
