University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada invites multiple online application for Postdoctoral Fellowships in various research areas. Candidates interested in Postdoctoral Fellowships can check the details and may apply as soon as possible.
1. Postdoctoral Position in evolution of metazoan cell types
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Department of Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) and under the supervision of the Principal Investigator will contribute to their research focused on the evolution of metazoan cell types and electrochemical signaling in the nervous system. Specifically, the Research Associate will spearhead a project exploring the single cell transcriptome and molecular physiology of crystal cells from the early-diverging animal Trichoplax adhaerens, which are thought to be mechanosensitive cells involved in gravity detection.
Through transcriptomics, a central objective will be to identify expressed genes encoding putative receptors that are capable of mechanotransduction (e.g., TRP channels, Deg/ENaC channels, Piezo channels), which will be subsequently cloned and characterized in vitro using whole-call patch clamp electrophysiology. Efforts will then be undertaken to disrupt the expression of these receptors in vivo, to search for causal roles in the gravitactic behavior of the animal.
Application Deadline: 01/05/2023
2. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The Stable Isotope Laboratory, Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) with expertise in Continuous Flow Compound Specific Isotope Geochemical (CF-CSIA) analysis of natural abundance stable isotopes of carbon and hydrogen, and reactive transport modelling using numerical methods for dissolved volatile organic compounds (compound specific) in natural waters. This is a 4-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal, subject to funding. The anticipated start date is February 1, 2023. The Research Associate will be expected to independently carry out work with the group of Dr. Barbara Sherwood Lollar in research funded by Sherwood Lollar’s NSERC and related research grants. Information on the Stable Isotope Laboratory can be found here.
Application Deadline: 12/20/2022

3. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
The candidate is expected to independently carry out and conduct a scientific research project on the evolution of bacterial pathogen virulence and host specificity and must have experience in plant-microbe interactions. In particular, the candidate must have extensive experience working with plant pathogenic bacteria and plant immunity. They should also have experience with plant genetic screens, genomic analyses, and genome engineering. They will assist in the training and informal supervision of the undergraduate and graduate students studying and performing research in the Guttman and Desveaux laboratories, assist Drs. Guttman and Desveaux in the preparation of scientific manuscripts, presentations, and research grants, and assist with the scientific upkeep of the Guttman and Desveaux laboratories.
Application Deadline: 01/06/2023
4. Postdoctoral Position
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
