Summary of PhD Program:

The project presents a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to work closely with leading experts in acute oak decline research at both UWE Bristol and Forest Research, joining in on field trips to affected woodlands to gain field experience of acute oak decline first-hand. At UWE Bristol, the candidate will join a thriving postgraduate community and be based in the new Lab Zone where they will learn versatile microbial molecular and plant pathology techniques, as well as bioinformatics and statistics providing them with transferable skills.

3. Fully Funded PhD Position

Summary of PhD Program:

The standard funding offer for PhD studentships (excluding any Masters year) is typically three years and three months plus three months ‘Research in Practice’. Where a student comes to the SWDTP with a prior Masters or equivalent professional experience but where that does not fully meet the ESRC’s training requirements set out in the ESRC Postgraduate Training and Development Guidelines Third Edition (2022) (PDF), then the student is required to undertake ‘top up’ training during their PhD, which may extend the length of the funding.
