1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Metaverse applications

Summary of PhD Program:

There is ongoing research on importance of the extended realities (XR) of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR and AR) in the educational environments. XR signifies to all real-and-virtual environments generated by computer graphics and wearables. The metaverse platform is a set of virtual spaces where you can create, produce and explore with other individuals who are not in the same physical space as you (Bosworth & Clegg, 2022; Hollensen et al., 2022). Thus, “the Metaverse will not fundamentally replace the internet or the “social media” framework, but instead build upon and iteratively transform it into an online 3D social media world, full of many new exciting user experiences” (Hollensen et al., 2022, p. 1).

2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Role Of Dietary Prebiotics In Asthma Management

Summary of PhD Program:

The successful candidate will investigate the role of the gut and dietary prebiotics in asthma. Asthma is a prevalent disorder with a significant public health impact. Several studies describe compositional and/or activity differences of the gut microbiota in asthma patients, and structural differences in the gut barrier. We have previously shown that dietary prebiotic interventions targeting the gut-microbiota can reduce the severity of exercise induced asthma, and airway inflammation (Williams et al., 2016); and that poor gut barrier integrity could worsen asthma control (Lad et al,. 2021). This initial evidence suggests that prebiotics targeting the gut microbiota and gut barrier may be a suitable adjunct treatment to improve asthma disease management and quality of life.

4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Effect Of Turmeric Supplementation On Inflammation And Recovery

Summary of PhD Program:

There is emerging evidence that curcumin can support aspects of health and recovery from exercise by reducing inflamation. Curcumin is found in high concentrations in turmeric root, making this an intriging dietary target to achieve these benefits. Recent work from our laboratory has shown that supplementing professional footballers with a turmeric-containing supplement can reduce a blood marker of inflamation and reduced perceptions of soreness (Clayton et al., 2023; Frontiers in Nutrition).
