The current focus of the Bonini laboratory is on metabolic drivers of chromatin remodeling including but not limited to reactive oxygen species, nucleophiles and thiols. We use multidisciplinary approaches including biosensor technologies, chemogenic systems, genetic engineering, cell culture, organoid and animal models to understand how metabolism-driven posttranslational modifications of histones and histone modifiers alters chromatin structure influencing cancer cell fate decisions, drug resistance and metastasis.

The laboratory of Dr. Eric Padron is looking to recruit a Postdoc to join his lab. Dr. Padron’s research has developed a national and international reputation in the biology and treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes, with an emphasis on chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). Dr. Padron’s lab primarily investigates different approaches to treating patients with leukemia, focusing on one subtype of leukemia called chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML).

In LMD, tumor cells enter the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and seed the pial surfaces of the brain and spine, resulting in death within 2–4 months. Very little is currently understood about the biology of this disease—there are only about eight papers relevant to its underlying mechanisms.

The Amelio Lab applies an interdisciplinary approach that integrates use of bioinformatics, drug and CRISPR screens, novel mouse models, and biologic light-based tools to study tumorigenesis in vitro and in vivo.
