1. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Wang laboratory will take an interdisciplinary approach thatspans genetics, multi‐omics, in vivo and in vitro models, to characterize how aberrant factors can lead to skeletal disease and bone cancer. Previous and ongoing work 1) investigates the molecular program that regulates osteocytogenesis and bridges the gap between osteocyte development and human skeletal disease, and 2) reveals the regulatory role of transcription factors in bone cancer and develops novel transcription factor‐targeted therapies. There are many exciting projects to work on and these projects will provide the opportunity to receive close mentorship and learn cutting‐edge technologies, such as CRISPR‐Cas9 gene editing, single‐cell RNA‐seq, spatial transcriptome and multi‐omics analysis. We are very open to new ideas and support the scientific and career development of lab members.

2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Postdoctoral training positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Kevin Mark, in the Department of Cell Biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study how protein quality control and degradation regulate gene expression during development. The Mark Lab has several exciting projects related to understanding the mechanisms by which the ubiquitin-proteasome system targets transcriptional and translational machinery to influence cellular processes, and how disruption of such pathways leads to cancer and neurodegeneration.

3. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral position is available in the Mukhopadhyay laboratory in the Department of Cell Biology to study the role of cilia and cilia-generated signaling in development and disease. The first cellular organelle to be described in biology, the primary cilium was long mistaken as a vestigial appendage. The primary cilia are now considered as vital sensory organelles for detection and transmission of a broad range of chemical and mechanical signals in most cells. Signaling mediated by the primary cilia plays fundamental roles in cellular differentiation, polarity and cell cycle control.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral training position is available jointly in the laboratories of Gaurav Sharma, Ph.D. and Matthias Peltz, M.D., in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center to study intermediary metabolism and energetics in donor human hearts for transplantation, metabolism in lungs using Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) in preclinical model and donor human lungs, and clinical translation of hyperpolarized Carbon-13 MR spectroscopic imaging. The candidate’s research topic is flexible and will be determined after discussion. Our laboratory has several exciting projects related to investigating metabolism in heart during hypothermic machine perfusion, and investigating metabolism in Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion and assessing metabolism in viable myocardium using hyperpolarized carbon-13 metabolic imaging.

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Our groups were recently awarded a four-year Catalyst for Discovery grant from the Welch Foundation, focused on collaborative studies of the specificity and function of biomolecular condensates involved in transcription (Lyons, Cell, 2023), DNA replication initiation (Adiji, Nucl. Acids Res., 2024) and centrosome formation (Rios, J. Cell Biol., 2024). Together we bring a wide range of approaches and technologies to bear on these problems: biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, microfluidics, cross-linking/mass spectrometry, artificial intelligence, and protein design.

6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The laboratory of Matthew Parker in the Department of Biophysics at UT Southwestern Medical Center has multiple postdoctoral positions available for researchers of diverse technical and educational backgrounds. The Parker Laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms of DNA replication initiation (Adiji et al. 2024) and the architecture and function of protein intrinsically disordered regions. We have recently developed a new bioinformatic approach to quantify linear variance in amino acid composition revealing a hitherto unappreciated level of logic and interpretability in protein disordered regions (McConnell and Parker 2023).

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Multiple postdoctoral training positions are available in the laboratory of Professor Daniel J. Siegwart, Ph.D. in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Siegwart’s laboratory focuses on targeted nanoparticle delivery of genomic medicines. Their efforts led to an understanding of the essential physical and chemical properties of synthetic carriers required for therapeutic delivery of siRNA, miRNA, tRNA, pDNA, mRNA, and gene editors. His lab has been at the forefront in the design of synthetic carriers for gene editing and has applied these technologies for correction of genetic diseases and treatment of cancer.
