The successful applicant will be part of a team focused on the developing a gammaherpesvirus vaccine. Our lab is dedicated to applying animal models of disease to understand viral and host determinants of chronic infection by the gammaherpesviruses, Epstein-Barr virus and Kaposi sarcoma herpesvirus. The mission is to identify novel targets for intervention and prevention of human gammaherpesvirus-driven cancers.

3. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Our group is expanding and we are seeking to fill two post-doctoral positions. We study the functions of human and viral non-coding RNAs in a tumorigenic virus in order to identify pathways instrumental to viral pathogenesis and potentially lead to discovery of novel antiviral and anti-tumor targets. Currently, we are studying the functional significance of a subset of circular RNAs and human genes that are differentially regulated by viral infection. Some non-coding RNA functions of interest include: regulation of infection, immune evasion, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis.

Postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Travis Stracker in the Radiation Oncology Branch at the Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. The major focus of the lab is to understand DNA damage induced signaling in cancer and identify targetable vulnerabilities that can be used in therapy. 5. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral fellow position is available for a very interesting collaborative study that will dovetail the Daar laboratory interests with the laboratory of Dr. Terren Niethamer. The successful candidate for this position will integrate analysis of genomic datasets with studies of ephrin/Eph signaling and morphogenesis in both in vivo (model organism) and ex vivo (cell culture) systems. This project will provide insight into the role of endothelial Eph/ephrin signaling in lung development and regeneration and determine how endothelial cells interact with their niche to form 3D structures necessary for organ development, function, and repair.

Multiple post-doctoral positions are available with Dr. Lisa Boxer in the Laboratory of Genome Integrity to study chromatin regulation of neuronal development. The Boxer lab uses molecular and genomic approaches to study how mutations in chromatin regulators disrupt neuronal gene expression and lead to neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer. Dr. Boxer is part of a highly integrated, interactive and collaborative research environment that provides an ideal training and mentoring setting for young scientists. Her research group will be adjacent to the laboratories of Branch Chief Andre Nussenzweig, Senior Investigators Eros Lazzerini Denchi and Avinash Bhandoola, and Stadtman Investigator Sergio Ruiz Macias.

The Cook Lab research is investigating cellular interactions within the tumor bone microenvironment that contribute to tumor progression, with a specific focus on neutrophil-tumor interactions. Within bone, metastatic cancer cells highjack the normal couple process of bone remodeling, resulting in excess bone degradation and subsequent release of growth factors that promote tumor growth. Additionally, cancer cells progress and mediate bone turnover through molecular and cellular interactions with the surrounding bone stroma. The Cook lab is using a combination of transcriptome and proteomic profiling of patient samples and mouse in vivo models of bone metastasis along with sophisticated bone and live-cell imaging tools.
