The position is embedded in the externally funded project “Determinants of Resilience in Organizational Networks” (DRONe) which investigates how cognitive attitudes amongst employees in a Danish utility company enable resilience to innovative technologies. Input for the models comes from the integration of a mix of qualitative and quantitative data already available from the utility company on which the project is based.

5. Postdoc Position in Federated Multi-OMICS Machine Learning
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Southern Denmark for the Computational Biology laboratory chaired by Associate Professor Richard Röttger invites applications for a postdoctoral position within the field of federated machine learning and AI to be filled by 1 July 2022, or soon thereafter, for a period of 18 months. Application deadline: 16 June 2022. The research is part of a large European effort, FeatureCloud, to establish privacy-aware federated machine learning approaches to enable the mining of distributed, sensitive data. Currently, one major roadblock of biomedical research is that the valuable data is scattered around the globe and sharing and consolidating data is simply not possible due to privacy concerns. With FeatureCloud, we are seeking to elevate this prohibitive problem by allowing federated machine learning, i.e. we leave the data in the safe harbour of storage and train local models at the sites; thereafter only the model parameters are consolidated in a central instance to create a model of similar capabilities as a conventional model trained on all the available data.

6. Postdoc position – Pastors in trials for witchcraft in the Danish Reamls, 1559-1660
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowships:
The ideal of the godly state developed during the 16th century. A part of being a godly Christian ruler included eradicating sin and all false Christians. Witches were the epitome of false Christians. This project will explore to what extent witch prosecutions were included in the efforts of establishing a godly Danish monarchy during 1559-1660. The Danish State with its realms were ruled by the Oldenburg monarchs. It encompassed the kingdoms of Denmark and Norway (including territories in present day Sweden), present day Iceland, and the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein. These realms had separate jurisdictions and varying degrees of self-determination, but state authorities could issue strict laws against witchcraft. Common to these realms, lay rulers oversaw witch prosecutions. Based on four intertwined subprojects, the overall aim of the project is to clarify the responsibilities of the king, the Council, the king’s lieutenants, and the parish priests, and how these groups engaged in trials for witchcraft.

7. Postdoctoral Position in Operator Algebras

Research in the Schmidt group focuses on transcriptional coordination of macrophage diversity and plasticity in metabolic health and disease. For this, we combine single cell analyses of clinical samples and viral targeting strategies in animal models. In a project recently funded by the Lundbeck Foundation, we will develop a new method for generation of cell type specific viral drivers. The recent explosion in single cell sequencing technologies has unravelled a remarkable heterogeneity and plasticity of cell types within and across organs throughout the body, however, tools to specifically target specific cell types and states to explore their importance for development, physiology, and homeostasis are lacking. In this project, you will help bridge this gap by developing and testing different computational and experimental strategies for learning the cis regulatory code of specific cell types in vivo. This knowledge will be transformed into a method for rapid development of synthetic viral drivers and single cell assessment of their cell type specificity.
