Are you holding PhD degree and looking for Postdoctoral Fellowships? Utrecht University, Netherlands invites multiple online application for Postdoctoral Fellowships in various research areas. Candidates interested in Postdoctoral Fellowships can check the details and may apply as soon as possible.

1. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

In this project, you will study the complex polar atmosphere-ocean-ice system from an atmospheric perspective. To do this, you will run the state-of-the-art regional climate model RACMO for the present and future and analyse and publish the results in scientific journals. For the future projections, output of global climate models with different patterns of climate change, so called storylines, will be used. The model results obtained will shed new light on various aspects of the polar climate system, such as ice and water clouds, the hydrological cycle and the surface mass balance of the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets. A strong background in climate science and the ability to work with climate models and critically assess their output are vital for a successful execution of this project.

Application Deadline: 26 June 2023

2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

In this project, you will study the interaction between the atmosphere and the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica, by using a firn model. It describes both the compaction of firn, and the hydrology of meltwater moving through it. The model is coded in Fortran and runs in a Unix environment on a supercomputer. Data processing can be in R, Python, MatLab. You will work on the model which is in need of an improved treatment of meltwater percolation, refreezing, and grain size evolution. These improvements will allow us to make more confident projections for future ice-sheet mass loss and stability.

3. 02 Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

You will make a major attempt to clarify Bohr’s position in the philosophical debates of his time and of today, with particular reference to the philosophy of physics, the philosophy of biology, and general philosophy of science. You will make extensive use of historical resources, especially those in the Niels Bohr Archive external link in Copenhagen, integrating historical and philosophical methods and insights. Among many other research questions, you will aim at clearing away the positivist cobwebs from Bohr’s image in the philosophy of physics, and investigating Bohr’s influence on organicism in theoretical biology, at exploring potential uses of Bohr’s notion of complementarity in contemporary debates in philosophy of science (e.g. on emergence and reduction).

Application Deadline: 6 July 2023

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Constructing the Limes (2021-2026) investigates the function and impact of the Lower Germanic Limes from the Roman period until today. The successful candidate will integrate GIS data created by other researchers in the team and assist in interpreting this data. Consequently, the postdoctoral researcher will be involved in the project’s final analysis, drawing together the research results from the various subprojects. The postdoc will also help produce the project’s edited volume.

Application Deadline: 31 July 2023

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We have recently received funding to leverage advances in pan-genomics and deep-learning to build predictive models to help understand why certain microbial variants are successful pathogens and what emerging variants to prioritise. The focus of this research is to be applied to the key foodborne pathogens Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli. These globally important pathogens are responsible for considerable morbidity, mortality, and economic losses. There is a critical need to better understand the differential risk that different strain types pose through the food chain so targeted and proportional interventions that maximise public safety and minimise economic losses are developed.

Application Deadline: 10 July 2023
