2. PhD Programs in Parents and Technology in Cyberbullying
Summary of PhD Positions:
Ten doctoral candidates will be working in the PARTICIPATE project, one of them at the University of Turku. All candidates are required to undertake 2 secondments abroad, one academic and one non-academic, of between 2 and 6 months duration. The Turku candidate will work in the research project “Gender, Diversity and Parental involvement in cyberbullying interventions”.
The aim of this project is to (1) Examine the knowledge parents (mothers vs fathers) have about bullying and cyberbullying and the weight of importance each gives to the problem. (2) Assess differences in mothers and fathers levels and methods of interaction in the home with their children in regards to bullying and cyberbullying, focusing on their beliefs and attitudes for prevention as well as their respective willingness to contribute to and participate in prevention measures in cooperation with others e.g., schools, local authorities, IT industry programmes.

3. PhD Programs in Cancer Therapy Resistance
Summary of PhD Positions:
Main focus of the project is the cancer cells’ adaptation to BRAF-targeted therapy in advanced melanoma. The tasks include characterizing cell line and xenograft models of latent therapy resistance, as well as residual disease biopsies of melanoma patients treated with BRAF-targeted therapy using single-cell transcriptomics and proteomics, targeted genome editing, and other molecular biology techniques.

4. PhD Programs in Head and Neck Cancer
Summary of PhD Positions:
We are looking for a PhD researcher to work in a project on Head and Neck Cancers. The work will be carried out in Turku Bioscience Centre. The main goals of the project is to reveal molecular background of head and neck cancers and to develop novel methods to diagnose and treat aggressive subtypes of these cancers (read more here). Research work will be carried out in close cooperation with cancer researchers and clinicians at Turku Bioscience and Turku University Hospital.
