3. Fully Funded PhD Position in cellular neurodevelopmental biology
Summary of PhD Program:
This PhD project is aimed at advancing our understanding of how prenatal exposure to antidepressant medications could shape the developing brain and ultimately neurodevelopmental outcomes in the offspring. The first trimester of pregnancy is key to offspring development because this is the peak of neurogenesis, the period when neurons are born and their functional fate is mapped out. You will study the molecular and cellular mechanisms activated by pharmacological exposures during critical brain development periods, using complex in-vitro human brain model systems.
Application Deadline: 03.Jul.2025
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in single-cell cancer genomics
Summary of PhD Program:
To understand the effect of subclonal variation in cancer, we have developed a set of single-cell multiomics methods, such as DNTR-seq for joint WGS/mRNA-seq (see: Zachariadis et al. Mol. Cell 2020, Andrews et al. Nat. Methods 2021, Enge et al. Cell 2017). In this project, we are applying the methods to leukemias and solid tumors with a high level of subclonal genetic heterogeneity to understand the general rules of how gene dosage affects expression, as well as longitudinally during treatment to better understand genetic and epigenetic features of treatment persistence.

5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Cognitive Neuroscience with focus on social cognition and consciousness
Summary of PhD Program:
As a doctoral student in the group, you will lead a new project that aims to investigate how our brains encode the attention of others. Results from previous studies and pilot data from the research group have shown that the natural dynamics of others’ eye movements appear to contain critical information that our brain uses to shape the experience of another person as a conscious human as opposed to an artificial and robot-like agent.
Application Deadline: 30.Jun.2025
6. Fully Funded PhD Position in sarcoma genomics
Summary of PhD Program:
You will analyse large multi-OMICS data sets, mainly genomic data, from sarcomas. Your training will focus on bioinformatics and biostatistics and be part of a research environment were you can develop these skills. There are two main projects i) compile and analyze large scale data sets, including prospective profiling of new tumors, and ii) detailed analysis of new genetic changes or genomic patterns in rare sarcomas.
Application Deadline: 27.Jun.2025
7. Fully Funded PhD Position in development of radiopharmaceutical therapy based on biologics
Summary of PhD Program:
We are seeking a motivated and inquisitive PhD student to join our team in advancing the development of antibody-based radiopharmaceuticals aimed at enhancing the diagnosis and treatment of metastatic cancers. Our research focuses on the next generation of radiopharmaceuticals for both molecular imaging and targeted therapy of solid tumors, including prostate cancer, breast cancer, and pediatric malignancies such as neuroblastoma.

8. Fully Funded PhD Position in speech therapy
Summary of PhD Program:
The project group, which is part of the speech therapy unit at the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology, has a common focus on the consequences of communicative disabilities in everyday life. Our theoretical framework is based on a dialogical perspective and we use, among other things, multimodal interaction analysis. An important part of the group’s research is to increase the ecological validity of speech therapy activities; by focusing on people’s everyday lives, we can contribute to speech therapy interventions being designed so that they play a role in individuals’ opportunities to participate in social interaction, make decisions about their own person and exercise active citizenship.

12. Fully Funded PhD Position in research about health outcomes of breast implants
Summary of PhD Program:
Cosmetic surgeries, including breast implantation, are common in our society; however, there is currently a limited understanding of the potential adverse health impact of such procedures. In this doctoral project, we are planning a series of multinational studies, leveraging extensive epidemiological and imaging data across the countries of Sweden, Iceland, and the USA, to examine comprehensively different health outcomes (e.g. mental illness, autoimmune diseases, fatigue, etc.) among women with a breast implant. The doctoral project will be led by Professor Fang Fang (main supervisor, https://ki.se/en/people/fang-fang) together with several co-supervisors with complementary expertise.

13. Fully Funded PhD Position in spatial transcriptomics, cancer immunology, and antibody profiling
Summary of PhD Program:
A PhD position is available in the Engblom lab, in the intersection of immunology, cancer, and spatial transcriptomics, with the ultimate goal to understand tumor-associated immune responses and harness these for therapy. The overall aim of the lab is to understand fundamental mechanisms of B cell-related immune responses in cancer (and beyond) to identify new avenues for B-cell mediated therapy. To do this, we interrogate the spatial relationships between B cell clones and their immediate niches within tissues using our in-house developed spatial transcriptomics-based technology (Spatial VDJ).
