5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Information behaviours during times of transitions

Summary of PhD Program:

Life changes mean disruptions to how we normally live our lives. Often these take place within areas of our lives that are not routine or everyday and therefore may require new and specialised ways of dealing with information. During a life transition, our sense of mastery and coherence over our lives may be challenged, resulting in the need for information to help adjust to a new life. This PhD project will look at how we obtain and use information during a significant life change such as an illness, new job, or change to our relationship status.

7. Fully Funded PhD Position in Sensor-Driven Robotic Automation for High-Integrity Welding in Marine Structures

Summary of PhD Program:

Specifically, the PhD will focus on sensor-enabled path planning and real-time control of small-reach robots, facilitating adaptive control and the dynamic adaption of welding paths before and after deposition. This research will take into account thermal phenomena and material behaviour, pushing the boundaries of process control, sensor design, and data interpretation in constrained and harsh environments. Additionally, the project will investigate the generation of the kinematics of robots with an emphasis on developing new methods for adapting to unknown welding joint geometries. The research will also involve the adaption of weld bead paths (e.g., start, stop, work angle adjustment) to optimize weld deposition and component repair, aiming for maximum flexibility in industrial applications.
