The mechanisms behind radiobiological effects are still little known. Current molecular methods are very useful for mechanistic studies on cells and tissues. Our initial studies show that irradiation of the thyroid gland cause systemic effects on other organs and tissues. Climate warming is happening much faster in Arctic and alpine regions than the global average, yet we are only beginning to understand the consequences of this rapid change for tundra ecosystems. The overall aim of this PhD project is to understand how this rapid warming will impact tundra plant communities and the functioning of tundra ecosystems. This project will focus on two ecosystems processes: productivity and fire dynamics. Our research aim is to identify novel targets for the treatment of cancer by identifying patient specific perturbations using single-cell sequencing data.
