Summary of PhD Program:

The PhenolLAB project aims at improving impaired protein digestibility of plant foods in the human body by bio-converting plant-derived bioactive compounds. The project researcher/doctoral researcher will investigate the mechanism of lactic acid bacteria metabolizing phenolic compounds and the effect of the metabolites on protein digestion. The position is in the research group of Docent Ye Tian who will also supervise the work together with Assistant Professor Maaria Kortesniemi, and Professor Baoru Yang.

2. 12 Fully Funded PhD Position in ImmuDocs – National Doctoral Education Pilot Based on the Immune System

Summary of PhD Program:

The ImmuDocs Doctoral Education Pilot, the University of Turku, is inviting applications for 12 fixed-term Doctoral Researcher positions at the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Technology from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027. The positions are related to the ImmuDocs Doctoral Training Education Pilot project, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, started 1 August 2024. ImmuDocs aims to educate a new generation of experts in immunology, immunology-based drug development, and/or diagnostics. The project is coordinated by the University of Turku, with the University of Helsinki, Åbo Akademi University, Tampere University, University of Eastern Finland, and University of Oulu as partner universities. In total, 81 Doctoral Researchers will be employed within the ImmuDocs doctoral training pilot project. Doctoral Researcher Position research themes are linked to the InFLAMES Flagship funded by the Research Council of Finland.

12. 07 Fully Funded PhD Position in education pilot (multiple disciplines)

Summary of PhD Program:

We are now looking for doctoral researchers for a three-year fixed-term contract, funded by the national EDUCA-doc doctoral education pilot. If the applicant does not have the right to study for a doctoral degree at the University of Turku, they must apply for the right to study for a doctoral degree during the 2024 application periods via the Studyinfo.fi service. Doctoral researchers for this position must be studying for a doctoral degree in the Faculty of Science (EXACTUS), the Faculty of Technology (DPT) or the Faculty of Social Scieces (DPSoc). The position cannot be filled by a person who has already completed a postgraduate degree (a doctoral or a licentiate degree) or has been granted the right to study for a postgraduate degree before November 1, 2023.
