8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Imprinted genes play important and complex roles in the development of the mammalian brain, including roles in growth, behavior, and learning. The importance of imprinted genes in the brain is further highlighted by the wide variety of neural and behavioral phenotypes associated with their misexpression. Our laboratory is interested in understanding the function of small and long non-coding RNAs that are expressed from imprinted regions in neurons. We have developed an in vitro neuron differentiation system that allows for quantification of allelic expression and are using this system to decipher functions of imprinted long non-coding RNAs, microRNAs, and small nucleolar RNAs employing a variety of molecular, cellular, and transcriptomic assays.

11. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Department of Global Health and Social Medicine stands out at Harvard University for its unique focus on research and training aimed at improving global health delivery and promoting health equity worldwide. Core to the department’s work is the recognition that an interdisciplinary approach is key to expanding and achieving global health equity. Traditional medical models alone will not fully address the complex social, economic, and political factors influencing global health care. Through the lens of disciplines like anthropology, history, sociology, economics, implementation science, and bioethics, department investigators seek to understand how issues like poverty, inequality, and access to resources act as barriers to health. In collaboration with community-based and other clinical organizations, we apply these understandings to develop and evaluate interventions and systems for improving the delivery of health care.
