The assessment of increasing numbers of treatment combinations for advanced stage melanoma patients with different genetic backgrounds requires more sophisticated in vitro models that faithfully recapitulate the variable tumor ecosystems. In this project, we will establish a collection of 3D multicomponent (3D-MC) spheroids representing the major melanoma subtypes, sensitive and resistant to common treatment combinations. To phenocopy different sites of metastasis, cell types present in the respective target organs as well as immune cells will be included in 3D-MCs.

More specifically, you will contribute to a partnership project with SolarCleano, a company developing innovative robotic solar panel cleaning solutions.The topic of the project is “Solar Panels Identification and Defects Recognition using Artificial Intelligence”. Solarcleano has launched an autonomous, electric, gantry cleaning robot capable of servicing multiple photovoltaic (PV) module banks and offering new inspection opportunities. The integration of an inspection system is under consideration, necessitating the development of advanced AI-based defect recognition software. The Geophysics Laboratory (GL) focuses on climate, sea level variability and geodynamics. The primary goals include satellite geodesy of new remote sensing applications and obtaining reliable geodetic measurements of environmental change and assessing the influence of human and natural factors in those changes. To do so, the group has developed a patented differential free-fall gradiometer as part of our activities in scientific metrology, advanced high-accuracy Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) techniques, provided interpretation of time variable gravity from space and improved the modelling of environmental effects on geodetic observations. In particular, the team investigates changes in the water cycle, the mass changes in the polar ice sheets, the dynamics of the Yellowstone Caldera. They have been realized experimentally in ferromagnetic systems and have a significant potential for technological applications in data storage devices.
