We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated postdoctoral scholar with expertise in biochemistry, cell biology, structural biology, biophysics or related areas to conduct cutting-edge research on several projects focused on the role of actin binding proteins (e.g., plastins) and actin-specific bacterial toxins in the pathogenesis of human hereditary and infectious diseases, and cancer. Two examples of the lab’s priority projects are the recent discoveries of actin processive polymerization at the pointed end by Vibrio toxins (Sci. Adv., 2022) and the allosteric regulation of actin bundling proteins plastins (NSMB, 2022). Both, plastin and toxin projects relate to the mechanotransduction/mechanosensing properties of the actin cytoskeleton.
