1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Rare-Earth Ion Emitters for Quantum Networks (Experimental)
Summary of PhD Program:
In the future, quantum networks could change the way we communicate, run apps in the cloud, and help scientific tools and sensors. To build such quantum networks, nodes based on solid-state emitters are promising contenders. One specific type of solid-state emitters, rare-earth ions (REIs) in host crystals, are particularly interesting. Because of their internal atomic structure, REIs can serve as excellent qubits, with long coherence time and emission in the visible and NIR spectrum. In the last few years, a lot of research has been done on proving REIs as qubits, including showing remote entanglement and quantum teleportation.

6. Fully Funded PhD Position in Scaling Renovation Passports through Responsible Business Models and Management Learning
Summary of PhD Program:
The reasons are structural. The sector is marked by inertia, fragmented responsibilities, and limited learning capacity. Data is collected inconsistently, rarely reused, and often lost when buildings change hands. Small and medium-sized firms, which dominate the industry, lack the capacity and incentives to embrace digital tools. At the same time, the workforce is under-equipped to navigate this shift. Business models for the Renovation Passport remain weak, and legal frameworks for data ownership are still under development.

7. Fully Funded PhD Position in Embedded AI Diagnosis
Summary of PhD Program:
The PhD will work towards analyzing explainable AI (XAI) techniques and designing explainable AI methods for diagnosing embedded AI models. They will focus on analyzing the state-of-the-art model-specific (e.g., integrated gradient) and model-free (e.g., counterfactual instances) XAI methods to identify robustness issues through causal analysis of relevant feature in model behavior. 12. Fully Funded PhD Position in First-class Coinduction in Proof Assistants
Summary of PhD Program:
Essential to writing and reasoning about software that operates continuously is a practically usable language for programs and proofs of coinductive types. Proof assistants currently rely on either syntactic guardedness conditions on programs, sized types, or guarded recursion. However, the syntactic guardedness condition is very restrictive and brittle, while both sized types and guarded recursion require significant additional annotations to the program.

21. Fully Funded PhD Position in Conceptual Engineering as Political Struggle in the Context of Socially Disruptive Technologies
Summary of PhD Program:
In this project the candidate will examine the political dimensions of conceptual engineering through the lenses of pluralism. The PhD student will investigate how the notion of pluralism in its various expressions (liberal pluralism, agonistic pluralism etc.) can be of use in approaching the disruption created by SDTs such that the political dimension of conceptual engineering is better acknowledged and understood. This will involve translating insights from areas of moral and political philosophy not necessarily concerned with technology into the philosophy of technology and developing a better understanding of how decision-making under value incommensurability applies to instances of conceptual engineering.
