3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Quantum Information Science with Superconducting Circuits
Summary of PhD Program:
The successful candidate will join our experimental team in advancing our capabilities on quantum information processing of superconducting bosonic modes, also called continuous-variables systems. Compared to two-level superconducting qubits, the bosonic architectures may bring advantages such as longer coherence times, resource-efficient quantum error correction, and well-understood loss channels. Our group recently demonstrated the preparation, manipulation, and tomography of a logical qubit encoded in a highly coherent bosonic mode. Now we plan to exploit the high dimensionality of the bosonic mode Hilbert space to (i) implement quantum error correction protocols and (ii) extend our platform to multiple cavities to demonstrate a verifiable quantum speed up advantage.

8. Fully Funded PhD Position in Airborne multi-static radar systems
Summary of PhD Program:
One enabler for an AMR system is to exploit the direct signal between a transmitting platform and a receiving platform. The direct signal allows timing, synchronization, transmitter-receiver coherence and elimination of intricate and complicated planning for all signaling and waveform parameters for all transmitter and receiver pairs in an AMR system. Another enabler is a combination of recent methods and breakthroughs. The methods include estimation of the multi-static geometries using only the characteristics of the ground clutter radar echoes, predict the information gain in all transmitter-receiver pairs, select the most informative pairs for processing and provide guidelines for the receiving platform to move to increase the expected information gain.
