The Cincinnati group has a long history of physics contributions at Belle, and at Belle II the group plays a leading role in operating the iTOP particle identification detector and performing data analysis. The Belle II experiment began running in 2019 and thus far has recorded 500 fb-1 of data. The accelerator has set numerous luminosity records. The experiment plans to record 50 ab-1 of data over the next ten years, about 40 times the amount recorded by the Belle + BaBar “B factory” experiments.

Prof. Bayliss’ group works on a wide range of topics related to gravitational lensing by massive galaxy groups and clusters. For this postdoctoral position we expect the selected candidate to work on multi-wavelength studies of the interstellar medium, stellar populations, and the production and escape of ionizing photons in distant, highly magnified galaxies. The postdoctoral fellow will work as a core member of the Sloan Giant Arcs Survey (SGAS) and LEnsing and Galaxy Growth: Observing Substructures (LEGGOS) collaborations.
