3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Modelling spin hyperpolarisation processes by multiscale simulations
Summary of PhD Program:
The project develops and applies efficient multiscale simulation techniques to simulate spin hyperpolarisation, a set of methodologies by which the sensitivity of modern nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy can be enhanced by several orders of magnitude. The multiscale models involve molecular dynamics simulations to gain detailed atomic trajectories of the investigated molecular and materials systems, quantum-chemical calculations of the instantaneous atomic configurations to create a time series of spin Hamiltonians for the spins of the NMR nuclei and unpaired electrons, and finally spin dynamics simulations to propagate in time the density matrix of the combined spin system.
Application Deadline: 31.Aug.2024
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Biomedical Photonics
Summary of PhD Program:
The position is supported by the doctoral pilot programme Innovative Doctoral Education Ecosystem for Photonics (I-DEEP), which is coordinated by Tampere University and gathers all Finnish universities with research activities in light-based technologies. The I-DEEP consortium is part of the Flagship for Photonics Research and Innovation (PREIN), a leading international photonics research hub dedicated to light-based technologies.

6. Fully Funded PhD Position in Nanomedicine Based Cancer Therapy
Summary of PhD Program:
Cancer initiation and progression depend on the interplay between heterogeneous tumor cells and the surrounding tumor microenvironment (TME), consisting of various types of stromal cells and the extracellular matrix (ECM). All these events are known to associate to actions of cell secreted nanovesicles (extracellular vesicles (EVs)). Our research focuses on understanding the composition and roles of such tumor derived EVs by using in vivo and ex vivo models to develop novel cancer diagnostic and targeted therapeutic.
Application Deadline: 30.Sep.2024
7. 10 Fully Funded PhD Position in Digital Waters
Summary of PhD Program:
The Doctoral Researcher Positions are linked to DIWA Flagship, a large scale research ecosystem with scientific excellence and high impact potential, funded by the Research Council of Finland. The flagship is a leading research and innovation ecosystem, developing research excellence to support decision-making and pave the way for the next re-evolution in the water sector – digitally. DIWA enables a transition towards the digital representation of real-world water systems (Digital Twin) to reproduce hydrological storages, their states, fluxes and processes, as well as ecosystem responses with novel options for improved scenario analyses, planning and governance.
