University of British Columbia, Canada invites multiple online application for Postdoctoral Fellowships in various research areas. Candidates interested in Postdoctoral Fellowships can check the details and may apply as soon as possible.
1. Postdoctoral Position in CEDAR Brain Injury Lab
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Approximately 450 people sustain a traumatic brain injury every day in Canada; it is a leading cause of disability nationally and globally. These injuries can lead to life-long disability and health problems, including decreased quality of life, poor mental health, and long-term unemployment. There is a critical gap between the needs and the delivery of programs and services that help people with traumatic brain injury to improve their health. Current health services focus on areas of impairment identified by clinicians rather than people’s own priorities for their rehabilitation. In addition, there is a lack of participatory research that engage people with traumatic brain injury and community organizations as active partners to collaboratively develop useful and effective rehabilitation programs. Our study evaluates a peer support program for people with traumatic brain injury.

6. Postdoctoral Position in coupled biological/chemical/physical ocean modelling
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
This project will focus on oxygen in the coastal ocean, specifically, in the Salish Sea. The Salish Sea is a diverse coastal region that includes deep basins, long straight straits, and connected fjords. Parts of the region are strongly stratified by river out ows and parts are strongly mixed due to tides. Some of the region is in close proximity to large urban centers and other parts are remote. The oxygen cycle is complex. As well as direct changes in the incoming oxygen from the ocean, oxygen is also changing due to changes in the incoming temperature and nitrate and thus changes in the biological productivity. It is also being impacted by excess nutrient inputs. This diversity of phenomena within one region makes the Salish Sea an ideal test bed for modelling the interplay of oxygen stressors.

7. Postdoctoral Position in Membrane Proteome Discovery
Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:
One postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Duong Lab at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry, University of British Columbia. Research in the Duong lab focuses on employing membrane mimetics systems to develop methods for next-generation strategies and technologies for working and exploiting surface-exposed drug protein targets. As the pharmaceutical and biotech industries increasingly shift attention to biologics, much more attention is being paid to the prospect of developing biotherapeutics against membrane-bound proteins.
However, fundamental challenges in antigen quality and presentation, discovery methodologies, protein engineering, and the pace of discovery must be resolved for the field to advance. Therefore, trainees in the Duong lab are expected to develop experts in membrane protein and proteomics technology, biochemical and protein engineering sciences, and mechanism-based drug discovery and screening technologies. These trainees naturally become highly competitive for careers in biomedical sciences, including appointments in innovative biotech and academic settings.
