You will play a key role in a collaboration between Professor Uffe Mortensen at the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine at DTU and the Microbial Expression Engineering Department at Novo Nordisk. The project will explore the correlation between gene dosage, stability and productivity. Further, different approaches aimed at stabilizing genetic constructs, such as genome integrations or plasmid stabilization with different selection markers will be pursued.
Application Deadline: 22 July 2025
7. Fully Funded PhD Position in Glas Cutting for Laminated Windows
Summary of PhD Program:
This PhD project is focused on glass cutting, where large, laminated glass panels are cut to sizes for window production. The process involves pre-cutting and bending to break the glass panels. The project will involve the establishment of a numerical model and the acquisition and analysis of data from physical measurements in the production at the industrial partner, Velux. This will enhance the physical understanding of the occurrence of micro-cracks and their impact in the final application as windows, where temperature gradients and mechanical loads may lead to large fractures initiated by the micro-cracks created from the glass cutting.

10. Fully Funded PhD Position in Materials Characterisation and Structural Condition Monitoring of Concrete Using Distributed Fiber Optical Sensing
Summary of PhD Program:
The aim of this PhD project is to investigate the immediate and long-term deformation behaviour of plain and fiber-reinforced concrete using distributed fibre-optical sensing (FOS). Based on experimental findings, we want to quantify the evolution of concrete stiffness and the development of internal stresses resulting from inherent material deformations, external loading, and restraint conditions.
Application Deadline: 8 August, 2025
11. Fully Funded PhD Position in Development of Gentle and Environmentally Friendly Towed Fishing Gears
Summary of PhD Program:
We invite applications for a fully funded PhD position focused on the development of gentle and environmentally friendly towed fishing gears at the DTU Aqua Section for Fisheries Technology in Hirtshals, Denmark. The capture of fish in towed gears can cause stress, lead to exhaustion and inflict physical damage through abrasion and contact with the netting and catch. As a result, the ability of fish to make escape attempts may be impaired and the quality of the landed catch may be diminished. In this PhD the causal relationship between sea state, vessel motion, fishing gear dynamics and how they may affect fish vitality, fish injuries and fish quality will be explored.

12. Fully Funded PhD Position in Experimental Electrocatalysis: Synthesis of 3D Active Site Structures to Break Scaling Relations
Summary of PhD Program:
Electrocatalysts are essential materials for producing green fuels and chemicals. Conventional electrocatalysts with two-dimensional active sites, however, have a fundamentally limited efficiency for facilitating complex reactions that involve three or more reaction intermediates, due to the “scaling relations”. In CAT3D, a five-year Villum Young Investigator project that fully funds this PhD position, along with two postdoc positions, we will tackle this grand challenge by fabricating and studying electrocatalysts with three-dimensional active site structures. With the concerted and concentrated research efforts, we aim to pave the way for developing the next generation electrocatalysts for a broad range of green technologies.
