2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are looking for two motivated postdoctoral researchers to work on human macrophage biology in the Department of Pathology at Stanford. Successful candidates will use a combination of scRNAseq, spatial transcriptomics, and highly-multiplexed imaging to understand how human macrophages respond to the early stages of cancer development. They will be a part of an interdisciplinary team of immunologists (Magda Matusiak), pathologists (Matt van de Rijn, Rob West), and star Stanford statisticians (Trevor Hastie, Rob Tibshirani)! The aim of this project is to reveal the driving forces of macrophage polarization and to identify early-detection cancer biomarkers.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Our recent work reveals that coding sequences (CDS) and their cognate 3’ untranslated regions (3’UTRs) are differentially expressed in development and disease. Notably, the Nanog 3’UTR functions as a long non-coding RNA to promote embryonic stem cell migration. In cancer, we have identified over 100 genes that shift from high 3’UTR to high CDS expression during EMT — and removing the 3’UTR of one key gene significantly enhances cancer cell migration.
