3. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Jian Xu at Department of Pathology and Center of Excellence for Leukemia Studies (CELS) at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to study the metabolic processes that control stem cell development, blood disorders, and childhood cancers. We employ high-throughput metabolomics, epigenomics, single-cell multiomics, (epi)genome editing, and preclinical models to define disease-associated metabolic and epigenetic programs that control stem cell development, and how these processes go awry in cancer progression.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Our lab is interested in the control and regulation of intratumoral heterogeneity within pediatric cancers. In prior work, we have developed tools and methods to map the cellular diversity of pediatric tumors by adapting single-cell sequencing techniques to archival frozen tumors. In that work, we identified powerful developmental patterns that drive malignant cell state diversity. In rhabdomyosarcoma, we have identified key cell states that are drug-tolerant and drive recurrence. In current projects, we are working to elucidate how individual cell state identities are dynamically regulated during therapy and metastasis.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Blanchard laboratory in the Department of Structural Biology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow with experience in protein and membrane protein biochemistry to join a newly funded GPCR collaborative project to investigate the structural dynamics of GPCRs and their signaling partners using biophysical methods, including single-molecule FRET (smFRET).

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Mittag laboratory invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate Position to work on the biophysics of sequence–structure–function relationships of intrinsically disordered protein regions (IDRs). IDRs use different types of sequence-encoded grammars, and these are often tied to their subcellular localization and the biological processes they are involved in. We have extensively characterized how the molecular grammar of prion-like low-complexity domains encode conformational preferences and give rise to condensates with specific emergent properties (e.g., Martin et al. Science 2020, Bremer et al. Nat Chem 2022, Farag et al. Nat Commun 2023; Alshareedah et al. Nat Physics 2024; Posey et al JACS 2024).

11. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The project aims to discover the unique features of tumor immune microenvironment in childhood cancer and secondary neoplasms in adult survivors of childhood cancer. By leveraging the publicly available single-cell sequencing data generated from patient samples and mouse models, we will enhance and apply machine-learning based algorithms to deconvolute bulk tumor RNA-seq samples to distinct immune cell populations which may involve targeted validation by working with a collaborator. Bulk tumor samples will include those of fresh-frozen material of pediatric cancer patients and archive FFPE RNA-seq samples of secondary neoplasms (breast and thyroid cancers).

14. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Our research focuses on how genetic variants contribute to diseases during early development and on developing mechanism-driven therapeutics. While animal models have advanced our understanding of many disorders, developing highly effective therapeutics are still lagging, especially for newly identified rare disease variants for children. The Chen laboratory aims to accelerate therapeutic development for brain disorders, leveraging stem cell-derived organoid models and gene targeting tools. Our recent work demonstrated that stem cell models offer a unique opportunity to study disease phenotypes in a human-specific context, and to identify novel drug targets.
