By leveraging Edge AI, these projects aim to process data locally, reducing the need for data transmission to centralized servers, which in turn lowers energy consumption and latency. Summary of PhD Program:
For the 6th generation (6G) wireless systems, low Earth orbiting (LEO) satellites will be incorporated with terrestrial systems to achieve true global coverage, by extending low latency broadband and IoT services to all rural areas and remote locations with high energy efficiency. To achieve this goal and to avoid interference, signals from satellites, ground and base stations, and many users need to be integrated in an energy efficient manner using massive and distributed MIMO and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS). Furthermore, besides the traditional communication services new objectives such as integrated sensing (ISAC) and localization are also important for 6G.

5. 03 Fully Funded PhD Position in Machine Elements on Polymer Liner applicaton in hydrogen storage
Summary of PhD Program:
Three Ph.D. students and one postdoctoral researcher will work in a multidisciplinary project with focus on Lined rock Caverns application in hydrogen storage. The project contributes to the green transition and carbon neutrality in the steel industry in Norrbotten by developing large-scale underground hydrogen storage technology (UHS) in mines/mining areas including abandoned production levels. As a Ph.D. student you will use advanced hydrometallurgical techniques for the development of new processing routes for exploring the new battery chemistries with higher performance. More specifically, the research work will focus on the mapping of local resources of Northern Periphery and Arctic Region (NPA) available to be valorized in a circular economy to recover high pure anode element to be employed in rechargeable batteries that exhibits a larger specific capacity.
