3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Marine Ecology
Summary of PhD Program:
We are looking for candidates interested in hypothesis-driven animal ecology well anchored in ecological and evolutionary theory. Our research group has pursued the broad question of how seasonal environments shape ecological processes and evolutionary adaptations. We also study intra-specific variability and phenotypic plasticity, which is most rewarding when there is opportunity to measure individual properties. Predator-prey interactions also form a central topic in our research. The project should include field studies and data analyses and could be complemented with experimental work in the lab as well as modelling.

Summary of PhD Program:
The main purpose of the PhD position is to complete a doctoral degree, which qualifies for independent research and for other forms of employment that demand specific competency. The duration of the PhD position is four years, of which 25 per cent of the time comprises obligatory duties associated with teaching, dissemination of results and administration. A substantial part of such potential duties will include teaching, supervision and to participate in assessment and examination at the Examen philosophicum and/or other introductory courses at the Faculty of Humanities. 5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Clinical Science
Summary of PhD Program:
Autoimmune diseases affect about 10% of the population and can involve almost any organ of the body. Like most autoimmune diseases, autoimmune Addison’s disease is multifactorial, with both genetic and environmental factors at play, and the exact mechanisms behind the disorders are still poorly understood. In autoimmune Addison’s disease the adrenal cortex is destroyed by infiltrating immune cells leading to loss of endogenous cortisol production. We have recently described several genes implicated in autoimmune Addison’s disease, but to establish new diagnostic tools and treatments, we need in-depth information about the immune system in these patients.

8. Fully Funded PhD Position in chemical valorisation of biomass
Summary of PhD Program:
Chemical knowledge, technology and competence are essential factors in unlocking the potential and meeting the objectives of biorefining in a future bio-based circular economy.
