3. Fully Funded PhD Position in State-Sponsored Mis/Disinformation Campaigns and International Law

Summary of PhD Program:

Focus could be on how international law addresses the spread of harmful content across borders and its impact on democratic governance, conflict and global security. Projects do not need to be limited to focusing on states and international organisations: they could also, or alternatively, focus upon companies or other non-state actors. This could include a focus on legal actors and/or processes, given that mis/disinformation can present significant challenges for the application of the law itself (for example, evidence gathering).

7. Fully Funded PhD Position in Just transition to net zero

Summary of PhD Program:

Securing a green, resilient economic future will depend on adopting transition pathways to net zero that are globally just – i.e. that do not exacerbate already high levels of wealth, income and power inequality within and between the global north and south. To envision these pathways, we not only have to analyse the material constraints to green production (e.g. the carbon budget/primary resources/productive capacity/labour skills/balance of payments/available finance) but also the design of global and domestic institutions that coordinate that production, something too often neglected in economics.
