The Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management (NREM) at Iowa State University has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in wildlife population ecology, funded up to 18 months (an extension is possible pending funding). This person will work with data collected by the Iowa Multiple Species Inventory and Monitoring (MSIM) dataset, which consists of >1 million records of Iowa’s fauna (primarily mammals, birds, herptiles, fish, butterflies, and odonates). The data come from standardized surveys of >500 publicly-owned properties across Iowa, span a 19-year period (2006-2024), and are suitable for occupancy analyses. For some taxa additional analyses are possible (e.g., birds and small mammals).

The Department of Biomedical Sciences seeks a postdoctoral research associate to join a laboratory research program with major goals:

  • to design and to evaluate immunogenicity of novel antigens that can elicit broadly neutralizing antibodies against HIV-1
  • to characterize biochemical and structural properties of antigens in order to facilitate better understanding of their immunogenicity and subsequent structure-based immunogen design, and
  • to develop novel antigen-delivery platforms for inducing potent humoral immunity.

3. Postdoctoral Position

We invite applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in theoretical condensed matter physics at Iowa State University and Ames National Laboratory. The position is anticipated to begin in the spring or fall of 2025. The laboratories of Dr. Hongqing Guo and Dr. Yanhai Yin, in the Department of Genetics, Development and Cell Biology at Iowa State University, are looking for two self-motivated postdocs to join their research groups. The postdocs will perform genetic, genomic, molecular, biochemical and cell biological studies to understand the regulation of plant growth and stress responses by FERONIA receptor kinase and/or plant hormone brassinosteroid signaling pathway in Arabidopsis. The postdocs will also help supervise graduate and undergraduate students, write manuscripts, and perform other related duties in the research laboratories. The initial appointments will be for one year with opportunity for renewal.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate for advanced electron microscopy-based investigations of layered natural and synthetic clay minerals. This position relies on high-resolution electron microscopy imaging, diffraction studies and analytical investigations of low-Z and beam sensitive materials. Our systems include natural clays, micas, and related synthetic 2D platforms. The position provides interested veterinarians with a solid, broad base in toxicology through diagnostic casework, field investigations, course work, seminars, teaching, and research. The person in this position will gain clinical and applied research experience, while working with clients of the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, ISU Veterinary Field Services unit, and ISU Food Animal and Camelid Hospital.
