GW’s Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Tropical Medicine (MITM) is searching for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate for Dr. Khan’s laboratory. Dr. Khan’s main interest is focused on studying the development and maintenance of CD8+ T cell immunity against Toxoplasma gondii https://khanlab.smhs.gwu.edu/. The postdoctoral fellow will work to determine the factors responsible for the mechanism of maintaining robust and functional CD8 T cell response during latent toxoplasmosis. MITM conducts innovative, fundamental, basic and translational research for HIV/AIDS and neglected tropical diseases. MITM has a strong tradition of training and policy advocacy for these infectious and parasitic diseases, which initiate and perpetuate poverty and suffering worldwide.

The GW Medical Informatics Center is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Associate in Biomedical Informatics. The mission of GW Medical Informatics Center is to enhance individual and population health outcomes, improve patient care, and strengthen the clinic- patient relationship through the research and development of data science and information technology. The center is engaged in federally as well industry funded research projects. The Postdoctoral Associate will participate in studies that use C. elegans to investigate the interactions between host intestinal microbiomes and immune responses to viral (Orsay virus) and fungal (microsporidia) pathogens. 4. Postdoctoral Position 

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

This position is for a postdoctoral researcher in experimental nuclear physics, who will manage George Washington’s contribution (through the Jefferson Lab Group, PIs Dr. Axel Schmidt, Dr. William Briscoe, Dr. Igor Strakovsky) to the K-Long Facility (KLF) upgrade and experiments at Jefferson Lab. The candidate will help to coordinate the development of software and simulation tools, including building an implementation of KLF in the Hall D simulation suite, tuning Monte Carlo even generators, developing reconstruction tools, and organizing KLF’s software repository. The candidate will also be asked to develop new physics channels for consideration and to assist with the Jefferson Lab’s on-going experimental efforts as part of the CLAS and GlueX collaborations.

Conduct energy systems modeling for decarbonization of Navy ships. With funding from the Office of Naval Research provided to the LeBlanc Lab in the department will collaborate with the Naval Postgraduate School, Naval Academy, and American Bureau of Shipping to address the Department of the Navy Climate Action Plan and the Navy’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 65% in less than ten years. In the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), a position is available for a scholarly, well-trained, and highly motivated postdoctoral research associate in Dr. Kenna Peusner’s research lab. This position is supported by an NIH-funded grant to study congenital vestibular disorders using a chick model implemented in this lab. The postdoc will contribute to design and conduct experiments using whole-cell, patch-clamp recordings in current- and voltage-clamp modes, pharmacological testing, immunocytochemistry, biocytin dye injection during recordings from vestibular nuclei neurons in brain slices, and confocal imaging of recorded brain slices.
