The work aims at improving prostate cancer care by developing artificial intelligence techniques for digital pathology data. The biopsy Gleason grading system is the most important prognostic marker for prostate cancer but suffers from significant inter-observer variability, limiting its usefulness for individual patients. The Gleason grade is determined by pathologists based on the microscopical growth patterns of the tumor visible in tissue specimens and forms the basis for treatment decisions.

5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Narrative and storytelling as a resource for increased sensitivity and dignity in elderly care
Summary of PhD Program:
A person-centred approach and taking part in the elderly’s stories and perspectives is today a pronounced ideal within all levels of care, activities and professional groups that work in elderly care. But how can narrativity and storytelling be used to achieve person-centeredness in daily practice? And how can management support genuine commitment and continuous learning among staff? This project builds knowledge about how storytelling and narrative resources can deepen a person-centered approach, and thereby contribute to participation in care and everyday life for frail elderly. As a doctoral student, you will be part of a research group that together develops a program for narratively engaged care for frail elderly. The project will generate knowledge about what hinders and enables narratively engaged care for this group and will contribute new knowledge about storytelling and narrativity in relation to person-centredness, participation, intersectionality and meaning, as well as how narrative practice can be integrated into regular efforts.
