Candidates interested in fully funded PhD positions can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. Interested and eligible applicants may submit their online application for PhD programs via the University’s Online Application Portal.
1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Molecular Plant Biology
Summary of PhD Program:
We are looking for a candidate to undertake a PhD on regulatory mechanisms of electron transfer in photosynthetic bacteria. Cyanobacteria export electrons predominantly derived from photosynthesis to their extracellular environment under illumination, a process known as exoelectrogenesis. The main focus of the PhD project is on carrying out fundamental research with the aim of understanding the molecular mechanisms of how photosynthetic bacteria regulate the extracellular electron transfer across their cell boundaries. We are also interested in answering how this allows cyanobacteria to modulate exoelectrogenesis in changing environments, including the role of circadian rhythms in regulating these processes over the day/night cycle, and in applying this knowledge to optimising sustainable biotechnologies.
Application Deadline: 1 September 2025
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of high-fidelity hydrogen combustion
Summary of PhD Program:
We are looking for a project researcher/doctoral researcher in the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of high-fidelity hydrogen combustion simulation applicable to novel engine concepts to join the research group of associate professor Armin Wehrfritz in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. The task is fixed-term and the starting time of the position is 1.9.2025 or as soon as possible according to mutual agreement. The duration of the contract will be 2 years from the starting date, with the possibility of extension.
