Are you holding Master’s degree and looking for fully funded PhD positions? University of Plymouth, England invites online application for multiple funded PhD Programs / fully funded PhD positions in various research areas.
Candidates interested in fully funded PhD positions can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. Interested and eligible applicants may submit their online application for PhD programs via the University’s Online Application Portal.
1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Marine Renewable Energy
Summary of PhD Program:
We have signed an agreement with the Ocean University of China (OUC) which gives PhD students the opportunity to engage in research in marine and offshore renewable energy at OUC and vice versa. Students will have co-supervisors from each institution. The scheme is funded by China Scholarship Council funding, CSC, supporting PhD students to study abroad. The Joint Academic Committee (JAC) oversees and gives orientation of the joint research, interviews and selects the candidates, evaluates the work quality of the student, and arranges the defence committee for the Dual Degree as required.
Application Deadline: Open until filled
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Computing
Summary of PhD Program:
Floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT) are widely seen as an essential part of many countries’ drive to achieve ‘net-zero’. However, the Levelised Cost of Energy of FOWT is still high compared with fixed foundation offshore wind, and therefore additional innovation is needed. A digital twin of a floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) can provide a means to support this innovation, through everything from improved turbine and platform control, O&M strategy, fault detection and response etc. A digital twin is a model-based representation of a real assist trained or developed using real data, and for a FOWT can be designed and used with many different objectives. A validated digital twin can be used for conducting testing and research on new operations and maintenance procedures without the risk of experimenting on real wind turbines.

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in offshore wind turbines
Summary of PhD Program:
This PhD will explore the use of two techniques for overcoming this challenge, to enable the testing of high capacity FOWT. The first technique involves the wind turbine being replaced with thrusters which apply correctly scaled aerodynamic loads to the floating platform. The generated loads are controlled in real time using a surrogate model ‘trained’ using results from more complex numerical models. In the second approach COAST’s new 3 m x 2.8 m wind generator will be used to generate a wind field over the Ocean Basin. A model turbine will be installed on the scaled floating platform to generate the aerodynamic loads.
Application Deadline: 20 July 2023
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Applied Health Studies
Summary of PhD Program:
The typical approach to dietetic work in primary care involves outreach clinics and educational initiatives that are provided by dietitians working in community or acute settings, or by offering dietetic clinics inside GP offices taking referrals from GPs. More recently, dietitians have been able to train to become first contact practitioners; a diagnostic clinician able to assess and manage undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations. However, the ways in which these practitioners operate has yet to be defined and the role in dietetics is in its infancy and requires evaluation.
Application Deadline: 31 July 2023
5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Biomedical Sciences
Summary of PhD Program:
The aim of this PhD studentship is to build on our in vivo and in vitro work investigating our hypotheses surrounding the role of fibre and seeds in glycaemic response. This work will continue to investigate how changing the fruit and other ingredients added to smoothies influences glucose and insulin responses in healthy individuals, and collect observational data from the general population on typical smoothie consumption habits. This body of work seeks to contribute to current public health advice around smoothie consumption.
Application Deadline: 25 August 2023
6. Fully Funded PhD Position in Dental Studies
Summary of PhD Program:
The overall hypothesis of the proposed study is that there is a bi-directional relationship between macrophages and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cells promoting tumourigenesis that can be modelled in vitro. We propose that the presence of M2 like macrophages in a reconstituted tumour microenvironment can influence the invasive behaviour of OSCC cell lines and invasive OSCC cells influence the phenotype of macrophages.
