Are you holding Master’s degree and looking for fully funded PhD positions? University of Lausanne, Switzerland invites online application for multiple funded PhD Programs / fully funded PhD positions in various research areas.
Candidates interested in fully funded PhD positions can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. Interested and eligible applicants may submit their online application for PhD programs via the University’s Online Application Portal.
1. Fully Funded PhD Position in aging of hematopoietic stem cells
Summary of PhD Program:
In this project the candidate will analyze how aging is impacting the metabolism and function of hematopoietic stem cells with the final aim to develop metabolic strategies able to restore hematopoietic stem cell function. Through Metabolomic analyses of hematopoietic and stem progenitor cells, the candidate will investigate how metabolism shape HSCs function and fate decision during aging.
Application Deadline: 01.12.2024
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in interface of data science, hydrogeophysics and climate change research
Summary of PhD Program:
The Institute of Earth Sciences is seeking to fill three PhD positions in a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The project entitled Geophysics-assisted Rare Event Estimation in Changing Environments (GREECE) is interdisciplinary in nature and includes project partners with strong expertise in environmental geophysics, hydrology, climate science, data science and statistics. PhD A will develop methodologies for the efficient estimation of rare event probabilities, related to subsurface properties and in the presence of climate change, within an inversion setting.
Application Deadline: 24.11.2024

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in MAPK-induced transcription
Summary of PhD Program:
The aim of the project is to study the dynamics of transcription stimulated by MAPK pathways in the model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In all eukaryotic cells, MAPK cascades relay extracellular information into a defined biological response, which encompasses the induction of a specific transcriptional program. We have established several live-cell microscopy assays to monitor the dynamics of transcription upon activation of a MAPK pathway in budding yeast. The objective of this project is to apply these tools to understand the role of the promoter sequences in defining the characteristics of the transcription dynamics. In addition, optogenetics will be used to control the localization of the MAPK in the nucleus and single molecule imaging techniques will be implemented to get deeper insights into the binding of transcription factors on DNA.
Application Deadline: 01.12.2024
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Regulating the Algorithmic State with Regulatory Sandb
Summary of PhD Program:
Are you interested in the topic of regulating AI and the algorithmic state? Are you enthusiastic about developing research at the crossroads between Public Administration and Public Law. Join our research team in the project “Regulating the Algorithmic State with Regulatory Sandboxes”. The project will explore issues of experimental regulation and administrative authorities in the context of the deployment and uses of AI systems in public administration. In this context, it will map the practices of public authorities and explore legal and organizational issues regarding such implementation tools.

5. Fully Funded PhD Position in political science
Summary of PhD Program:
The COVID-19 crisis has pushed countries to adopt unprecedented measures, generating both support and controversy, particularly in France, where mobilizations have been particularly marked. Now that the situation is stabilizing, it is crucial to explore the consequences of this period of mobilization, marked by the emergence of new actors and a strong participation of novices. This project has two objectives: to study political reconfigurations in France, particularly in the south-east, and to analyse interactions between groups at the regional level. We will focus on the PACA region, where collectives have interacted with the political, medical and judicial fields, contesting health measures and defending fundamental rights.
Application Deadline: November 17, 2024
6. Fully Funded PhD Position in Computational Biology applied to T cell Engineering
Summary of PhD Program:
The Systems T-cell Engineering Lab led by Pr George Coukos and Dr. Jesus Corria-Osorio at the University of Lausanne invites applications for a PhD position generously supported by the Swiss Cancer League Foundation, (@krebsliga, Krebsliga Schweiz). The student will be co-supervised by Dr. Santiago Carmona, at the University of Lausanne. The candidate will be involved in two projects:
1) Develop computational methodologies to model and effectively interrogate single-cell CRISPR-based perturbational datasets and identify novel gene targets for T-cell engineering
2) Develop AI/ML models to systematically explore the transcriptional and epigenetic space of CD8+ T cell states and identify novel strategies for T-cell enhancement
