The smart mask will detect CO₂ levels in exhaled breath, serving as a biomarker for hypercapnia and hypoxemia—key indicators of PE.

Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs) are expected to transform smart cities, not only by transporting people and goods but also by sharing their onboard resources to enable innovative applications and create a Cooperative Internet of Vehicles (C-IoV). Indeed, CAVs are equipped with abundant underutilised resources that can be harnessed to deliver a diverse range of innovative services for vehicles, passengers and third-party stakeholders. In-vehicle sensors, communication modules and onboard units allow CAVs to offer data storage, relaying and computing services.

5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Semiconductor-Based Miniaturized Biosensing Platform for Translational Diagnosis of Cardiorenal Syndrome
Summary of PhD Program:
This project aims to address a critical challenge in point-of-care diagnostics for Cardiorenal Syndrome (CRS). The albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) in urine is an important indicator but often affected by variable urine matrix conditions. A flexible, metal-organic frameworks (MOF)-based electrochemical biosensor integrated with a machine learning (ML) model will be developed to accurately measure ACR from human urine samples in different environmental conditions including pH, ionic strength, and temperature, and achieve data-driven early detection of CRS.
