5. Fully Funded PhD Position in Comparative Literature
Summary of PhD Program:
In a contemporary sociocultural context which accords so much importance to image and presence, we tend to confer on the visible an absolute virtue, that of an icon, and paradoxically we maintain him in a certain passivity, that of the object of the gaze. Faced with this trend, a constellation of artists and theorists are distancing themselves from the visible. The research program “Aesthetics and politics of the unseen: literatures, arts, theories” aims to highlight these divergent discourses and develop a terminological framework for thinking about the phenomena of injunction to visibility.
