Summary of PhD Program:

The Cognitive Robotics Group focuses on robotics and how they can work in close collaboration with people. Research topics include robot design (robot manipulators and soft grippers), perception for robot manipulation (grasping, assembly), perception for human-robot interaction (speech, learning from demonstration), large- and visual-language models for robot manipulation, motion planning and control and software development. All topics have a heavy focus on AI-based methods (e.g., machine or deep learning) and their real-time execution on real robot systems.

2. Fully Funded PhD Position in speech technology, language research

Summary of PhD Program:

We are inviting applications for a doctoral researcher (PhD student) position on the topic of early language development and child-directed speech. The position is associated with a project titled “Linking Age-Dependent Changes in Caregiver Speech to Infant Language Development (LINKAGE-SPEECH)” funded by the Research Council of Finland (2025–2029). The aim of the project is to develop speech processing tools to analyze caregiver speech in naturalistic audio recordings of infant-caregiver interactions (so-called “longform child-centered audio recordings”), and then to analyze linguistic characteristics of caregiver speech to infants using these tools.

3. 02 Fully Funded PhD Position in Power electronics, magnetic materials

Summary of PhD Program:

The research group of Power Electronics at the Electrical Engineering Unit at the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences at Tampere University works at the intersection of power electronics, optimal control and modulation, mathematical programming, and computational methods. The research group of Electromechanics focuses on electromagnetic and electromechanical energy conversion. The two groups are taking part to a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network project “Advancing Energy Conversion Technologies: High-Frequency Magnetics in Modern Power Electronics” (MAGNIFY) starting in October 2025.
