1. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The UCSF Starr & San Luciano Labs are seeking a talented postdoctoral scholar to explore the human neurophysiology of basal ganglia and cerebellum. This research will focus on the neural signatures of motor symptoms in acquired dystonia secondary to cerebral palsy and the effects of cerebellar deep brain stimulation (DBS) in children and young adults. Additionally, the postdoctoral scholar will have the opportunity to pursue a concurrent project in the Starr Lab, related to mechanisms of DBS, neural correlates of motor dysfunction, or adaptive DBS.

2. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

We seek a post-doctoral fellow to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of social-behavioral scientists conducting research to identify and modify social determinants of health and health behaviors. This includes unhealthy alcohol use, cardiometabolic disorders, HIV prevention and treatment outcomes, and depression. Achieving global health equity to reduce health disparities in the most vulnerable populations requires solutions at every level: policy, health-care system, community, family, and individual levels.

In many resource-poor and rural settings, healthcare is implemented informally within communities and families, where partners and relatives provide the majority of care to compensate for under-resourced healthcare systems. Thus, advances towards a more health-equitable world require innovation strategies from the ground-up to complement those from the top-down. Our team is conducting cutting-edge research in sub-Saharan Africa with couples and families to leverage resilience resources and strengthen social relationships to improve patient-centered support while also meeting caregiver and partner needs.

3. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Kleen Lab is inviting applications from highly motivated and creative people who are interested in applying cutting edge approaches to exciting questions in neuroscience and neurostimulation.
The central project will 1) apply cutting edge signal processing and computational neuroscience techniques to analyze data recorded from hundreds of locations directly in the brain, and 2) use brain stimulation to understand the mechanisms of memory function, and how epilepsy affects these functions.

Our lab uses a special source of data – human intracranial recordings – to study fundamental questions in memory neuroscience as well as questions related to neurological conditions (epilepsy, dementia).

You will work closely with, and get personalized mentorship from, the physician-scientist principal investigator and the rest of the talented Kleen Lab team. You will gain experience in project leadership and running a productive research lab.

4. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Liu Lab at the University of California, San Francisco, Departments of Radiation Oncology and Neurological Surgery is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (MD, PhD, or MD/PhD). We are a collaborative, basic and translational research laboratory interested in developing new treatments for patients with malignancies of the central nervous system. We are a multi-disciplinary research group with expertise in functional genomics (engineered CRISPR/Cas9 systems), advanced in vivo disease modeling, epigenetics, single cell genomics and multiomics, biochemistry, molecular biology, and bioinformatics.

Ongoing projects include, but are not limited to, in vivo CRISPR/Cas9 screens in brain tumor models, spatial transcriptomics of clinical specimens and experimental model systems incorporating artificial intelligence and foundation models, molecular mechanisms of radiation and chemotherapy resistance with focus on the DNA damage response, and development of novel genetic and epigenetic editing technologies for in vivo application.
