1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Populism and the reshaping of the EU
Summary of PhD Program:
IDEoPOP offers training-through-research within a uniquely structured doctoral programme imparting academic and complementary professional skills. A multifaceted scholarly training is provided jointly by seven academic partners, where PhD students are employed: University of Freiburg (Germany), Sciences Po Paris (France), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), Bilkent University (Turkey), University of Genoa (Italy), Jagiellonian University (Poland), and University of Bath (UK). Moreover, doctoral candidates will learn how to develop and communicate academic and policy-relevant solutions to the challenges posed by populism in international politics via temporary assignments to renowned think tanks.
Application Deadline: 29 November 2024
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Populists in International and Regional Organizations: Engagement or Disengagement?
Summary of PhD Program:
Funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Doctoral Networks (MSCA-DN), IDEoPOP explores how populism intersects with both domestic and international politics and how it impacts international politics. Under the guidance of some of the leading scholars in this area, a new generation of doctoral students will be trained in the study of the international dimensions and effects of populism.
Application Deadline: 29 November, 2024

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Correlative Nanoscale Imaging of Molecular Turnover in Neuronal Stem Cells
Summary of PhD Program:
Dr. Phan’s research interest has been focused on the development and application of multimodal imaging using mass spectrometry imaging, fluorescence microscopy, and electron microscopy to cells and neurobiology, particularly the study of the structural effects of psychostimulant drugs on the brain chemistry, the molecular turnover of nerve cells and the brains in relation to neurogenesis and neurodegeneration. Her current interest is the correlation of secondary ion mass spectrometry (nanoSIMS, ToF-SIMS), super-resolution fluorescence microscopy (STED), and electron microscopy to study the structural and functional relationship between cellular lipids and proteins at subcellular and molecular levels. She is also working to develop labeling probes for specific targeted bioimaging using these combined modalities.
Application Deadline: 2024-11-25
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Physics
Summary of PhD Program:
The position is part of the research project “Making and Breaking Molecular Bonds,” conducted in collaboration with researchers at Stockholm University. The research is centered around the DESIREE facility, where collisions between positive and negative ions can be studied. The position holder will specifically investigate how the population of excited states can be controlled to achieve better regulation of collision processes. The studies will include both fundamental and applied projects, with the latter focusing on collisions of interest within the field of atmospheric sciences. In addition to studies at DESIREE, research will also be conducted at the GUNILLA facility at the University of Gothenburg.
