Are you holding Master’s degree and looking for fully funded PhD positions? Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden invites online application for multiple funded PhD Programs / fully funded PhD positions in various research areas.
Candidates interested in fully funded PhD positions can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. Interested and eligible applicants may submit their online application for PhD programs via the University’s Online Application Portal.
1. Fully Funded PhD Position in modelling plant-environment and plant-plant interactions
Summary of PhD Program:
Crop production needs to be transformed. Agriculture can be made more sustainable and resilient by relying more on ecosystem services provided by biodiversity and less on external inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides. These ecosystem services depend on crop traits and climate and soil conditions. This doctoral project will employ mathematical models based on ecological and physiological mechanisms to look at advantages and disadvantages of different management practices for primary production, climate change adaptation, and reduced environmental impacts.
Application Deadline: 2024-10-30
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in The Biocarbon Future
Summary of PhD Program:
As a PhD student at the Department of Forest Biomaterials and Technology, SLU, you will develop knowledge about the design of systems for industrial raw material supply of biomass for the production of biocarbon and about the socio-ecological and environmental effects of the studied systems. In collaboration with fellow doctoral students, you will map, model and analyse raw material flows, biomass material properties and production/process technologies. Residual streams from forestry and forest industries form the basis of the raw material with supplements from other markets or residual streams. The effects of different strategies on supply efficiency, material utilisation and sustainability will also be analysed. Your research will be done in dialogue with actors from industry and society.
Application Deadline: 2024-10-08

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in microbial ecology
Summary of PhD Program:
The PhD student will do research on functional community ecology of nitrogen cycling microorganisms in soil. The work will involve designing and carrying out experiments as well as laboratory work for measuring composition and functioning of the soil microbiome combined with bioinformatical and statistical analyses. Writing scientific publications in collaboration with the supervisors and collaborators and communicating research is an essential part of the work.
Application Deadline: 2024-10-28
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Phage-Bacteria interactions and co-evolution in lake ecosystems
Summary of PhD Program:
Phage-bacteria interactions and specifically the prevalence of phage co-infection in natural settings is poorly understood and accordingly its impact on phage genome evolution remains unknown. This PhD position is a part of an ERC starting grant (MULTIPHAGE) with the main aim to disentangle the evolutionary dynamics of phages. The holder of this position will contribute to developing a deeper understanding of phage-bacteria interactions in freshwater ecosystems.
