Are you holding Master’s degree and looking for fully funded PhD positions? Loughborough University, Loughborough, England invites online application for multiple funded PhD Programs / fully funded PhD positions in various research areas.
Candidates interested in fully funded PhD positions can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. Interested and eligible applicants may submit their online application for PhD programs via the University’s Online Application Portal.
1. Fully Funded PhD Position in Quantum Systems Engineering
Summary of PhD Program:
The UK has invested significant funding to transition quantum theories into quantum products to create a quantum-enabled economy within the next 10 years, to revolutionise healthcare, energy, transport, and many other sectors.
NPL, the UK’s national metrology institute, is developing a fully functioning, thoroughly characterised, local area quantum network (QLAN) linking heterogeneous nodes across its site. It will make this testbed available to users for testing hardware and applications. NPL will lead on the testing and security evaluation of the testbed and collaborate widely on the technology development.
Application Deadline: 13 September 2024
2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Optically transparent microwave metasurfaces at Loughborough (OpTiMAL)
Summary of PhD Program:
Metasurfaces can be used to control the reflection or transmission of electromagnetic waves. Therefore, they can be used for wireless communication and wireless sensing. For example, they are widely proposed to be used to augment the signal strength in deadzones for future 5G wireless communications. This 3 year PhD will design metasurfaces that can reflect or/and transmit an electromagnetic wave in the required direction. An extension of a static metasurface will be to make the surfaces reconfigurable so they can be actively changed to steer the beam in different directions.
Application Deadline: 30 September 2024

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Belonging Built-In Engineering
Summary of PhD Program:
This Interdisciplinary PhD applying Social Sciences to Engineering Education, aims to embed nationally recognised Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) organisations into Higher Education engineering, representing the wider diversity of under-represented engineers and wider society to which engineering industry serves. The partner organisations represent wide ranging and intersectional EDI aspects and like WES, their mission values are to foster greater inclusion in engineering through connecting, informing, and empowering the under-represented groups they work with.
Application Deadline: 30 September 2024
4. Fully Funded PhD Position in Computational modelling and testing of inverse Compton scattering sources for medical applications
Summary of PhD Program:
Microbeam Radiation Therapy (MRT) may allow treatment of these cancers. Still in a preclinical phase, it uses arrays of parallel X-ray microbeams to blast tumours with radiation while sparing healthy tissue. MRT is delivered with synchrotrons, which are large machines intended for scientific use. In this project, we will investigate new sources (compact Compton sources), which produce synchrotron-like radiation and are potentially usable in hospitals.
