Summary of PhD Program:
The development of young football players within academies is influenced by multiple factors, including training load, physical development, and growth and maturation trajectories. There is a need for a deeper understanding of how these factors interact, especially in the context of optimizing talent development. A scientific approach to modelling these components can help football academies create individualized training programs that align with the physical and maturational progress of young athletes to optimise talent development.
The primary objectives of this project are to model the relationship between long term player talent development with physical performance, match and training load. This project will contribute to a more scientific and data-driven approach to player development in elite men’s academies. By focusing on the critical factors of training load, maturation and physical development, the proposed model aims to refine the process of talent identification and development.

2. Fully Funded PhD Position in A Behaviourally Informed Approach to Reducing the Risk of Unintentional Doping from Supplement Use in Tennis
Summary of PhD Program:
The overarching aim of the PhD is to develop a behaviourally informed approach to preventing unintentional doping through supplement use in tennis5. The programme of research will examine [1] the extent of supplement use in tennis and the drivers of this behaviour, [2] existing empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of supplements to improve tennis performance and [3] the barriers and enablers of tennis player adherence to risk minimisation supplement use guidelines. Recognising that risk-minimised supplement use involves a myriad of behaviours, the problem of unintentional doping through supplement use will be framed, and research appraised, through the lens of the Behaviour Change Wheel6.

This project will be a qualitative study, using semi-structured interviews to explore the experiences of neurodivergent SLTs in the workplace. The proposed study aims to explore the experiences of neurodivergent SLTs in the workplace, how the guidelines are used and what value they add to the individuals who use them.
