The Hagberg (KI-web & Hagberglab) and Malin (KI-web) labs at Karolinska Institutet are seeking a PhD student to join our dynamic and collaborative research groups. As part of the Cardiovascular Medicine Division at the Department of Medicine, Solna, we focus on unravelling disease mechanisms using advanced mouse models, 3D cultures, and human samples. Our work has been featured in key publications, including DiNunzio et al, Nature Cardiovascular Research 2024, Grankvist et al, Nature Metabolism 2024, Ioannidou et al, J Physiol. 2022, Li et al, Nature Medicine 2021, Centa et al, Circulation 2019, and Hagberg et al, Nature 2012 & 2010.

2. Fully Funded PhD Position in Immunology

Summary of PhD Program:

The project focuses on B cells that express highly polymorphic antibody receptors. The student will use high throughput genotyping techniques, monoclonal antibody isolation, deep antibody repertoire sequencing, a suite of bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis and structural analyses to investigate B cell repertoire sequence diversity and dynamics of antigen-specific B cells following infection and vaccination.

3. Fully Funded PhD Position in Clinical Immunology and Antibody Glycoanalytics

Summary of PhD Program:

The research group of Dr Charlotte Thålin opens a doctoral (PhD) student position within T-MAP: Translating the Functional Role of Mucosal IgA Clonal and Glycoprofiles to Effective Humoral Mucosal Protection. T-MAP addresses a critical need in the face of viral endemics and pandemics through the translation of in-depth mucosal IgA structure and function to the generation of protective recombinant IgA. The Thålin group has pioneered the field of mucosal immunology, and is situated at Karolinska Institutet, the Department of Clinical Sciences, Danderyd Hospital (KI DS). T-MAP is conducted in close collaboration with Professor Manfred Wuhrer at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), at the forefront of proteomics and antibody glycosylation.
