Are you holding Master’s degree and looking for fully funded PhD positions? Max Planck Society, Germany invites online application for multiple funded PhD Programs / fully funded PhD positions in various research areas.

Candidates interested in fully funded PhD positions can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. Interested and eligible applicants may submit their online application for PhD programs via the University’s Online Application Portal.

We aim to endow the next generation of scientists with the knowledge and skills to study complex biological processes, which cannot be adequately understood within the limits of single disciplines, in the context of entire organisms. IMPRS PhD students tackle research projects bridging the gap from molecules to living organisms. Transcending the boundaries of traditional life science disciplines, methodologies and scientific approaches from different fields are combined to address topics inaccessible by isolated research areas.

Apply now

We study the fascinating ability of planarian flatworms to regenerate whole animals from tiny pieces of tissue. We have pioneered high quality planarian genome sequencing / assembly and established functional genomics techniques that provide new avenues for investigating the gene regulatory basis of regeneration. We are an interdisciplinary department encompassing bioinformatics, cell biology, taxonomy and high throughput screening, and we believe in cross-project and cross-disciplinary collaboration. We are a truly international department. Our working language is English.

Apply now

Follow FellowshipBard for daily updates!

Facebook

Twitter

Linkedin

The group operates an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) based aberrations corrected and energy filtered Low Energy and Photoemission Electron Microscopy (LEEM/PEEM) at the UE49PGM-SMART high flux soft x-ray beamline at BESSY-II. This spectromicroscope is used to characterize catalytically active surfaces such as single crystal surfaces, oxide films and supported nanoparticles (NP) and to follow in real time and in situ processes such as epitaxial film growth, thermal reactions in a pressure range up to 10-5 mbar and phase transitions. Various special equipment are connected to the microscope allowing for quasi in situ processes like UHV based plasma treatment, chemical reactions in near ambient pressure (NAP) and electrochemistry.

Apply now

The IMPRS-CMS, established at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in corporation with the University of Stuttgart, offers you a unique opportunity to join one of our internationally renowned Research Groups for a doctoral study. We combine an exceptionally broad and interdisciplinary spectrum of expertise in fundamental research on condensed matter, ranging from topics such as Quantum Materials / Electronic Structure & Quantum Many-Body Theory / Nanoscience / Solid State Spectroscopy / Solid State Ionics & Batteries / Bioinspired Materials / Quantum Electronics / Organic Electronics / Ultra-Cold Atomic Gases /…

Apply now

The successful doctoral fellow will be joining the research group to carry out a computational social science research project at the intersections of African Studies and digital humanities to understand how public discourses about African migrants in Germany have changed over time. The doctoral research fellow will be responsible for the acquisition of data, data cleaning, data management, data analysis and data visualisation, while closely working with an interdisciplinary research team and collaborators.

Apply now

The Zieske group is an independent research group at Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light. We are an interdisciplinary research team with projects in the area of membrane biophysics, microfluidics and synthetic biology. We are interested in the emergence of patterns and structures of living soft matter. Currently, we are looking for a highly motivated PhD student with good communication skills and a scientific aptitude. The successful candidate will conduct an interdisciplinary research program and address the emergence of protein patterns and structures at lipid membranes.

Apply now

The overall research and teaching focuses on: Apply now

The Research Group „Neural Information Flow“ is doing research on the general principles of signal compression, attention and context-dependency in neural systems. To do this we concentrate on the foraging behavior of the roundworm C. elegans. To support our research we are looking for a PhD Student (m/f/d) – Neural Information Flow to join us as soon as possible.

Apply now

Single molecule X-ray scattering experiments with free electron lasers offer a new route to the structure determination of biomolecules. In addition, they hold the potential to not only determine the molecular structure, but also its dynamics. However, computing the structure from such data poses a highly complex mathematical problem, and new theoretical methods and algorithms are required. The main goal of this particular research project is to develop Bayesian methods to determine molecular structures and dynamics. It also offers the opportunity to work with data from the European XFEL facility at DESY and, depending on the interests of the applicant, many possible connections to other research areas like, for example, molecular dynamics or machine learning.

Apply now

We are now looking to recruit for 1 October 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter a Doctoral Student (m/f/d) for the Fellowship project ‘The History of European Union Employment Law’, under the supervision of Professors Thorsten Keiser and Stefan Vogenauer, dealing with the following topic: Equal pay in the Benelux countries in light of European law (1952-1973).

Apply now

The Center for Epigenetic Mechanisms of Brain Longevity, a collaboration between the research groups of Anne Schaefer and Zak Frentz at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, and Alexander Tarakhovsky, Professor at the Rockefeller University in New York and Max Planck Society Fellow, is seeking scientists (m/f/d) at different career stages PhD student, Postdoc, Research Associate (m/f/d) (Job code 10-2023) to join its multidisciplinary research team. The Center aims to promote the systems approach toward understanding cell and tissue longevity, focusing on general principles of energy allocation and associated structural and functional gene changes.

1.
