A major scientific focus of the Chair of Nutrition and Immunology is to identify functionally and clinically relevant microbial mediators in the context of intestinal tissue injury & healing. This project will investigate the integration of microbial signals at the intestinal epithelial interface in patients and murine models targeting unfolded protein response-driven colorectal cancer and colitis-associated cancer.

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

More Details

The application of stabilized mRNA as a vehicle for the biosynthesis of proteins in vivo has not only recently led to considerable success in vaccination with viral antigens, but also holds great potential for the indirect administration of protein drugs in various medical indications. This also opens up new possibilities for organ-specific application. In addition, the effort involved in drug production during the translation from research to clinical application is significantly lower in the case of biochemically simpler nucleic acids than for proteins with their complex GMP processes. As part of the cluster C-NAT Min cooperation with the TUM Institute for Virology, Prof. Dr. Ulrike Protzer, and on the basis of preliminary work by our working groups with active protein substances, a novel mRNA-based therapy for hepatitis B with improved interferons can be developed and tested in cell cultures and in mouse models. The focus of the position to be filled in our laboratory is on nucleic acid and protein biochemistry as well as initial cell culture experiments.

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

More Details

The position is offered in the context of an ERC Starting Grant project called ‘SupraModel: Peptide-based Supramolecular Co-assembly Design: Multiscale Machine Learning Modeling Approach.’ ERC Starting Grant is a highly competitive funding program by the European Research Council (ERC) to support ground-breaking research in Europe. Alois Knoll) at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT) conducts research as part of the MANNHEIM-CeCaS funding projectin the areas of software architecture and model-based development. The technical requirements of autonomous driving pose completely new challenges for the development of vehicles and the associated highly complex functions. The enormous amounts of data recorded by sensors have to be processed in sophisticated calculations. This requires the development of more powerful computing architectures with application-specific AI accelerators. The high complexity of these systems with a constantly growing number of highly integrated software components in a domain characterized by real-time and security requirements is difficult to master with classic development approaches.

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

More Details

Your tasks include the modeling of domain- and application-specific knowledge of the scenarios in the project as well as the hardware and software resources of a distributed robot system and their abstract capabilities.
