Aarhus University, Denmark invites multiple online application for Postdoctoral Positions in various research areas. Candidates interested in Postdoctoral Fellowships can check the details and may apply as soon as possible.

Aarhus University is a nationwide university. In addition to the main campus in Aarhus, Aarhus University has campuses in Herning and Emdrup, as well as research activities in 18 different locations in Denmark, Greenland and Tenerife. The university covers an area of approx. 580,000 square metres (net). This corresponds to approx. 80 football fields.

This project aims at answering the question: How accurately can one measure low gas pressure in a simple and absolute manner? To attempt to answer it, optomechanical pressure sensors—consisting in highly tensioned strings sculpted on ultrathin dielectric drums—will be realized with the goal of performing absolute pressure measurements with sensitivities beyond the state-of-the-art by monitoring the pressure-induced modifications of the string vibrations (frequencies, damping) with a laser. The project is based on very recent breakthroughs realized by the group regarding the design, fabrication and application of nanostructured silicon nitride thin films. It will involve the use of nanofabrication technologies (Electron beam lithography, atomic force microscopy, etc.) and optical techniques (e.g. interferometry) as well as the simulation of the optical and mechanical properties of nanostructures (using e.g. Finite element methods).

Application Deadline: 31 Oct, 2022

More Details

Fluidic channels can be found in a variety of fields, from microfluidics to soft robotics, where they have the task to provide the robot with actuation and sensing capabilities. However, soft fluidic channels in robots are still in their infancy, relying on old technologies and simple geometries, with a strong limitation in terms of actuation, motion, function, and energy. In particular, the valves within the channels require external inputs to be controlled, thereby relying only on active control strategies, and their interaction with the fluid flow is not well understood, especially for large deformations.

Application Deadline: 31 Oct 2022

More Details

Follow FellowshipBard for daily updates!

Facebook

Twitter

Linkedin

We are seeking applicants to support development of exciting new methods to measure the condition of habitats and their natural processes (e.g., grazing, hydrology etc.). Specifically, the aim is to develop measures based on airborne and UAV lidar point clouds and possibly other fine-scale remote sensing data. In the end, the goal is to enable estimation of the condition of a given habitat and the degree to which the intrinsic processes prevailing there are natural. The work is conducted as part of a new EU Horizon Europe project – Modern Approaches to the Monitoring of Biodiversity (MAMBO). An important focus is to develop methods that are scalable to enable meaningful habitat monitoring over large extents that can be implemented in different EU countries.

Application Deadline: 31 Oct 2022

More Details

The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a postdoctoral position in adaptation and transition of Nature-based solutions in multifunctional landscapes, focusing on the influence of social factors, starting 01-01-2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
