About Fully Funded PhD in Education

The Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania offers fully funded PhD programs in Education Linguistics, Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Development, Quantitative Methods, Education, Culture, and Society, Reading/ Writing/ Literacy, Education Policy, Higher Education, Learning Sciences and Technologies, Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education.

Ph.D. students are fully funded through the Dean’s Fellowship and Research Apprenticeship. Tuition and fees, health insurance, and a living stipend are all provided plus annual stipend of $34,000.

All new Ph.D. candidates are awarded a fellowship and research apprenticeship package that includes four years of study and requires full-time enrolment.

Additional funding is available on an individual basis for students who wish to continue their research and teaching apprenticeship during the summer months.

Fully Funded PhD in Education Eligibility

Applicants for Doctoral programs must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School or University prior to intended matriculation date. The degree programs must be a minimum of three years in length.
